Oh Windows 7, I would not let you beat me.
I decided I would install the Win7 RC onto an old machine I have, the machine has two drives, the primary drive was playing up, my dream was the Win7 on install might find some errors on the drive, quarantine them, install and everything would be great.
It has taken about a weeks worth of effort to get things up and running! But not much of that was Win7's issue, its the old thing, nothing is easy!
So, the steps I have taken -
1. Download Win7 RC. This worked fine, and given my net connection, only took about 30mins to get the 2 gig file.
2. Burn the iso to DVD. Not so easy, turns out both my DVD drives were not working, this took time to fix.
3. Try install process. Despite my best wishes, win 7 did not like the primary drive I wanted to install it to, it must just be too damaged, so, messing around with hardware to remove it, and set the second drive up as the primary drive had to occur.
4. Run install. It took ages, but it worked, and the second machine is now up and running with Win7 on it.
5. Re-install iTunes, and connect to Apple TV, Done!
6. Clean up iTunes library (this is going to be the slow bit)
I must say, it seems to be running quite well on an 6 year old desktop with 1gig ram. I am running the remote desktop with it also which is quick, just like sitting at the machine.
All looking good now, so I expect I will completely forget about the fact that this release version only lasts for 12 months, and next year it will start to turn itself off every 2 hours!
